Summer Of Our Children

Summer Of Our Children
8/21/2016 - Angela Cronwall - Contributing Writer

Once again we find the summer days quickly ebbing away.  The days are getting shorter now, and there is a definitive change of the temperature in the evenings.  They are cooler and more enjoyable.  I know that I find myself out on my deck each evening listening to the sounds of a day melting into night.

These are enjoyable times.  With school around the corner, and in some areas it’s already started.  Perhaps it’s time that we take assessment of the time that we used up this summer of 2016.

Our children are not any younger.  With each passing day, the chance for us to spend time with them and show them how valued they are, is waning fast.   Summer vacations are a critical time to be with our kids.  It’s when we are allotted extra time with them.  These valuable hours allow us a greater opportunity to shape them into the adults that the will become.

Now not all parents care, and I understand that.  It’s a sad reality of life that children are born into all types of circumstances.  Some are born into loving families, others are not.  Some have an abundance of wealth and others are homeless.  With all of the different scenario’s that there are, we as parents have a choice to make.  Do we make our time about our children?  Or do we squander that time away on things, that quite frankly are meaningless in the end?  The day will come when we will all end up in the ground.

I hope that everyone takes stalk, as summer prepares to close and children head back to school.  Our children are our legacy.  They are precious gifts from God who deserve the very best that we can give them.
