The Foolish Actions Of Colin Kaepernick
The Foolish Actions Of Colin Kaepernick
August 28, 2016 - Kevin Harley
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to stand up to those who offend and spit upon the graves of patriots. Colin Kaepernick, is that person. As he sat down during the National Anthem at the start of the Green Bay Packers preseason game he disrespected the men and women who valiantly served to protect the freedoms of this nation, to protect the Constitution of The United States of America, and to protect his paycheck.
He sat on the bench in protest. In his own words he explained his blatant disregard for honoring those who so valiantly have served this nation to NFL Media. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Interestingly enough, Mr. Kaepernick isn’t decrying the violence perpetrated by people of color against law enforcement of all color, not just white. He isn’t angry that according to the FBI, that between 2010 and 2011 there were 4,906 African Americans murdered by African Americans.
I guess Mr. Kaepernick is OK with blacks killing blacks. He isn’t outraged by that statistic. Accordingly he apparently doesn’t care that more white people are shot by police each year than black people. The Washington Post reported that in the first seven months of 2015 there were 732 white people shot by police and 381 black people shot by police. Whites were shot almost double the rate as black people. So what is your grind here Kaepernick? I don’t get it.
Believe me when I say this, excluding the racist radical fringe of the progressive liberal movement, white people are just as angry as black people. Individuals who are not looking for a reason to burn down their communities, kill police officers for sport and loot to get a new free TV, are using the laws of this nation to bring about a change. Most American’s understand that there is a good ol’ boy’s club in law enforcement and the judicial arm of the State’s. No one expects any of these officers who shoot people for no reason to be prosecuted.
It’s interesting that you and not one national news source reported on Darrien Hunt of the small town of Saratoga Springs, Utah. Darrien was a troubled young man who had a plastic sword on his back. The police confronted him in front of a Panda Express near the police offices. Exactly what happened is unknown. But what we do know is that according to the autopsy, Darrien was shot in the back. No charges were filed against the officers who shot this 22 year old man. You didn’t know about it and the world didn’t know about it. Why? Because it wasn’t news worthy.
The media Colin, controls what we told and what we are led to believe. If you want to know the truth, you have to dig for it. The media knew that the people of color in Saratoga Springs wouldn’t riot. There were protest rallies held in Darrien Hunt’s behalf, but no violence. It wasn’t reported. What about the white man shot at a 7-11 in Salt Lake City, Utah by a black police officer just a week before? Again it wasn’t reported.
Colin, you show your complete and total ignorance with respect to the actual facts going on in America. Isn’t it interesting that going into the Obama administration, there was little racial strife in America. Eight years of our first black president, and the country is more divided than it has been since before the civil rights movement of the 60’s.
With that said, apparently, either Colin Kaepernick wasn’t taught in any classroom setting, including the University of Nevada, Reno that The Star Spangled Banner isn’t pledging to a flag. Instead, it is honoring those brave men and women who fought and died for this country. That when Francis Scott Key saw the flag still flying at dawn, he was grateful for their sacrifice that this country was not in subjection to a foreign power. Colin, stop making a complete fool of yourself before you decide to spit on the graves of patriots. Perhaps you should demand your paycheck in a country who treats blacks so well. Perhaps an African country of your choice. I am certain the 49ers would prefer to do that anyway.
It is Colin Kaepernick’s right to sit down in protest. It’s his Constitutional right. However, in the future, perhaps before you exercise that right Colin, become informed so you don’t look like a moron.
